About the role
The Health and Nutrition Specialist provides technical leadership, quality assurance, and strategic oversight for integrated health and nutrition interventions. The role ensures that services are evidence‑based, align with national and international standards, and reach vulnerable groups such as children under five, pregnant and lactating women, adolescents, refugees and host communities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead technical oversight of CMAM/IMAM, MNCH/RMNCH, and primary health care programmes, ensuring compliance with national IMAM guidelines, SPHERE standards, and MoH protocols.
- Design, adapt, and contextualise protocols and SOPs; integrate nutrition, health, WASH and protection services.
- Supervise health staff, nutrition teams and community health workers across health centres, health posts and community platforms; conduct regular field monitoring.
- Develop and deliver competency‑based training for health workers, volunteers and partner staff on IMAM protocols, clinical case management, nutrition screening, referral pathways and infection prevention.
- Manage supply chain for essential medicines and nutrition commodities, overseeing forecasting, procurement planning and stock monitoring to prevent stock‑outs.
- Ensure accurate data collection and reporting through DHIS2 and CMAM/IMAM databases; lead data analysis, programme reviews and learning cycles.
- Represent the organization in health and nutrition cluster meetings, technical working groups and coordination forums with MoH, UN agencies and local partners.
Required profile
- Proven experience in technical leadership and supervision of health and nutrition programmes.
- Demonstrated ability to design, adapt and implement protocols and SOPs.
- Experience delivering training and capacity‑building activities for health and nutrition staff.
Required skills
- CMAM/IMAM programme management (OTP, TSFP, Stabilisation Care)
- Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH/RMNCH) implementation
- Primary Health Care (PHC) coordination
- MIYCN, Growth Monitoring & Promotion (GMP) and Family MUAC approaches
- Supply‑chain forecasting, procurement planning and stock monitoring
- DHIS2 data entry and reporting
- CMAM/IMAM database management
- Data analysis for programme monitoring and evaluation
