Human Capital Officer

About the role

The Human Capital Officer supports the daily operations of the HR function, acting as a bridge between management and employees. The role focuses on talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, training, and compliance with labour laws, ensuring a positive and productive workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in recruitment: draft job descriptions, post vacancies, screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate background checks.
• Manage onboarding: ensure new hires receive training, tools, and a smooth introduction to company culture.
• Serve as primary point of contact for employee inquiries on policies, procedures, and benefits, and promote engagement through surveys and team‑building activities.
• Support performance appraisal processes, guide managers on objectives and KPIs, and maintain performance records.
• Identify training needs, coordinate internal and external training sessions, track budgets, and evaluate program effectiveness.
• Maintain confidential employee records, ensure compliance with local labour laws and internal policies, and prepare HR metrics for payroll.
• Provide guidance on disciplinary procedures, keep disciplinary records, and help prevent industrial unrest.
• Conduct exit interviews, manage employee separations, and ensure return of company property.
• Promote staff wellness by organising fitness programmes and coordinating medical scheme access.
