Legal Advisor – Personal & Private Banking Dispute Resolution

About the role

The Legal Advisor will provide comprehensive legal support to the Personal and Private Banking (PPB) unit, ensuring that legal risks are identified, managed and mitigated across all bank products and services. You will lead dispute resolution activities, protect the entity’s interests and work closely with internal teams and external counsel.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver legal advisory services to multiple business areas within PPB.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal risks in line with regulatory requirements.
• Implement and manage processes throughout the dispute‑resolution lifecycle.
• Attend court proceedings, handle objections and maintain accurate records.
• Receive and evaluate dispute/recovery information to determine the merit of legal action.
• Research case law and legal precedents to inform strategy.
• Control legal costs and optimise spend on legal matters.
• Manage relationships with attorneys and service providers.
• Leverage digitisation tools for document review, filing and information sharing.
• Utilise technology to improve work efficiency.

Required profile

• First degree in Law and Advocate of the High Court of Zambia.
• 4‑7 years of experience in dispute resolution and legal advisory, preferably within the financial sector or a law firm.
• Proven ability to identify and mitigate legal risk.
• At least 3 years of people‑management experience (direct reports not required).
