About the role
CURE is seeking a dedicated Pharmacist to lead pharmacy operations at its Lusaka hospital. The role focuses on medicines management, regulatory compliance, and supporting clinical care through efficient pharmacy services.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee day‑to‑day pharmacy operations, ensuring workflow efficiency and full compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.
- Manage procurement, storage, dispensing, and control of controlled substances, maintaining accurate records and audit trails.
- Monitor stock levels and expiry dates across pharmacy and wards to minimize wastage.
- Lead medication disposal exercises and coordinate with laboratory and ward teams.
- Identify, investigate, and implement corrective actions to reduce medication errors.
- Conduct the hospital’s annual forecasting and quantification for pharmaceutical and laboratory commodities.
- Source and order drugs from approved suppliers, balancing cost‑effectiveness with product quality.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control checks on incoming pharmaceutical products.
- Process import permits for international donations in liaison with regulatory authorities.
- Maintain patient medication records using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and process ward requisitions.
Required profile
- Pharmacy degree with eligibility to practice as a pharmacist.
- Entry‑level experience or strong academic background in hospital pharmacy operations.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for controlled substances.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and laboratory teams.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
