Psychosocial Counsellor – Community & Employee Wellness

About the role

The Psychosocial Counsellor will join the LPDC team at Lumwana Mine to provide professional counselling, mental‑health promotion and crisis support for employees, contractors, their families and the surrounding community.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver confidential individual, family, marital and group counselling sessions.
• Conduct psychosocial assessments and create tailored intervention plans.
• Facilitate support groups addressing stress, grief, trauma, addiction recovery and family wellbeing.
• Design and deliver mental‑health awareness programmes on stress management, resilience, suicide prevention, substance‑abuse prevention, fatigue management and healthy lifestyles.
• Provide Psychological First Aid and participate in Critical Incident Stress Management after accidents, fatalities or other traumatic events.
• Manage referrals from HR, medical, safety and community stakeholders, develop case‑management plans and monitor progress.
• Develop and implement community psychosocial programmes for youth, women, vulnerable groups and community leaders, tracking outcomes against performance indicators.
• Prepare regular reports on psychosocial services and wellness initiatives.

Required profile

• Full Grade Twelve certificate.
• Diploma in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling Psychology (degree is a plus).
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Psychosocial Counsellor.
• Registered with the Counselling Association of Zambia (CAZ) or Zambia Counselling Council (ZCC).
