Retail Butchery Country Manager – Zambia

About the role

The Retail Butchery Country Manager will lead butchery operations across more than 40 stores in Zambia, based in Lusaka. This senior position is responsible for ensuring product quality, driving innovation, and delivering profitability for the grocery chain.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee butchery operations in 40+ retail outlets, ensuring hygiene, food safety compliance and consistent product quality.
• Develop new recipes and product lines, collaborating with merchandising and marketing to launch promotions.
• Recruit, train and mentor butchery managers and staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Manage budgets, control costs, analyse sales data and forecast demand to support business growth.
• Negotiate with suppliers to secure quality products at competitive prices.
• Implement customer feedback mechanisms and drive initiatives to increase loyalty and repeat business.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Food Science, Agriculture or a related field.
• 8–10 years of experience in retail butchery operations, including recipe development.
• Proven experience managing multiple outlets or large teams.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent leadership, communication and negotiation abilities.
• Willingness to relocate permanently to Lusaka, Zambia.
