Safety & Quality Officer

About the role

The Safety & Quality Officer will support construction activities on a project site in Lusaka, balancing responsibilities for both safety management and quality management. The role involves regular site inspections, hazard identification, and ensuring that work complies with approved drawings, specifications, and relevant standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety inspections, monitor PPE use, and oversee high‑risk activities.
• Follow up on safety incidents, near‑misses, corrective actions, and support toolbox talks and safety training.
• Maintain accurate safety inspection records and related documentation.
• Perform construction quality inspections, assess workmanship, materials, and processes.
• Identify quality issues, track corrective actions, and support testing and handover activities.
• Keep detailed quality inspection records and coordinate with contractors to resolve issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Safety Engineering or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in construction projects or site management.
• Experience in construction safety and/or quality management is preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction activities, safety requirements, and quality control procedures.
• Good communication, coordination and problem‑solving abilities.
• Willingness to work on‑site and conduct regular inspections.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
