Construction Lead – Structural, Mechanical & Piping

About the role

Lumwana Mining Company is looking for an experienced Construction Lead to oversee all Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) construction activities for the Plant Fixed‑Term Contract. Reporting to the Project Manager – HIA and Process Plant, you will drive safe, efficient and high‑quality delivery in a remote FIFO environment.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the Engineering Contractor Plan (ECP) for SMP construction.
• Develop and execute construction strategies aligned with project objectives.
• Lead and coordinate SMP construction across all project areas and interfaces.
• Manage internal and external resources, ensuring safe and quality execution.
• Maintain State of Work (SOW) and pre‑construction documentation.
• Establish strong relationships with contractors and vendors.
• Identify and resolve delays, risks and disruptions.
• Oversee SMP construction from concept to completion, ensuring compliance with design, safety and quality standards.
• Manage pre‑assemblies of steel structures and conduct QA/QC audits.
• Review schedules, deliverables and cost estimates to meet project targets.

Required profile

• Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Structural or related engineering.
• Significant experience leading SMP construction on large‑scale mining projects.
• Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and EPCM contracts.
• Willingness to work on a FIFO basis in a remote location.
