Construction Supervisor – Civil

About the role

Lead and supervise on‑site civil construction activities for a utility‑scale solar PV project in a remote location in Zambia. You will manage daily operations from mobilisation through construction, commissioning, grid connection and handover, reporting to the Project Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily construction activities, directing labour and coordinating subcontractor teams to ensure safety, schedule adherence and quality.
• Take responsibility for civil scope including earthworks, foundations, cable trenching, equipment plinths and related structural works.
• Monitor progress against the construction programme and report deviations, supporting corrective actions.
• Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with drawings, specifications and codes.
• Enforce health, safety and environmental standards, delivering toolbox talks, inductions and hazard inspections.
• Maintain accurate site records such as daily diaries, material logs, workforce attendance and photographic progress documentation.
• Liaise with subcontractor representatives to resolve technical and logistical issues.

Required profile

• Engineering or construction management degree, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of construction supervision experience, including at least one utility‑scale solar PV project (>20 MWp) delivered from start to finish.
• Proven experience working in Africa or similar remote, emerging‑market environments.
• Track record of leading multidisciplinary site teams of 50+ personnel.
• Fluent English and medically fit for remote site work.
• Resilient, hands‑on leader with strong cultural intelligence and a commitment to developing local talent.
