Human Resource Manager (Zambia)

About the role

Liugong East Africa is seeking an experienced Human Resource Manager to lead all HR activities for its Zambia operations. This hands‑on, on‑site contract position will shape people strategy, ensure compliance, and drive talent development from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment, selection and structured onboarding for new hires.
• Design and oversee performance appraisal cycles, KPI frameworks and improvement plans.
• Ensure full compliance with Zambian labour law, develop HR policies and conduct documentation audits.
• Handle employee relations, grievances, disciplinaries and promote wellbeing and engagement initiatives.
• Lead learning & development strategy, succession planning and leadership pipeline development.
• Partner with senior leadership to align HR strategy with business objectives, provide people analytics and support organisational design.
• Administer payroll and employee benefits in accordance with local regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources.
• Minimum 5 years of HR experience, preferably in a senior generalist role.
• Strong knowledge of Zambian labour law and HR compliance.
• Proven experience drafting and implementing HR policies.
• Demonstrated ability to partner with senior leadership on people strategy.
• Attention to detail and sound judgement.
