Nutanix Engineer (Break & Fix Support)

About the role

A freelance, on-call Nutanix Engineer / Networking IT Support Engineer is sought to deliver break and fix support for enterprise infrastructure. The role covers hardware, network and infrastructure incidents and is based in the Copperbelt area of Zambia (Lusaka, Ndola). Candidates must hold a valid CCNA certification, speak fluent English and show strong customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide onsite and remote break and fix support for networking and infrastructure incidents.
• Deploy, configure and manage Nutanix HCI environments (AOS, AHV, Prism).
• Perform system upgrades, patching and lifecycle management.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, virtualization and network issues, including TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS and DHCP.
• Implement and support backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Respond to critical incidents and service requests within agreed times.
• Collaborate with global and regional teams on infrastructure and cloud projects.
• Maintain technical documentation, incident reports and service records.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in infrastructure, virtualization, networking or IT support.
• Hands-on experience with the Nutanix ecosystem (AOS, AHV, Prism) and with VMware and/or Hyper-V.
• Proven break and fix support experience in enterprise environments.
• Valid CCNA certification and minimum 90% pass score on the induction assessment.
• Fluent spoken and written English and ability to work independently in customer-facing settings.

• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching
• Backup and disaster recovery solutions
• PowerShell and/or Python scripting is advantageous
• Preferred: Nutanix certification (NCP or higher), AWS/Azure/GCP, Ansible and Terraform
