Planner, Process Plant

About the role

The Planner, Process Plant will coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance activities for plant equipment, ensuring optimal resource use and equipment availability. This role supports the First Quantum Way by encouraging independent thinking and continuous improvement in maintenance planning.

Key responsibilities

• Plan repair and preventive maintenance work for plant equipment.
• Create and organise work orders in the CMMS, allocating people, tools, materials and external services.
• Set up preventive maintenance tasks in the CMMS to reduce errors and simplify weekly planning.
• Prepare clear, step‑by‑step job plans based on manufacturer instructions and company procedures.
• Review feedback from completed jobs, update plans, and prioritize maintenance tasks.
• Forecast and order materials, managing lead times to ensure availability.
• Apply for new stock codes and keep equipment spare‑parts lists (BOM) accurate.
• Track maintenance budgets, update job costs and control spending.
• Analyse repeated equipment failures and implement reliability improvements.
• Lead planning meetings with operations, maintenance, logistics and other departments.
• Monitor contractor work hours and ensure correct charging to purchase orders.
• Develop weekly schedules for sections without a dedicated scheduler.

Required profile

• A Craft qualification or a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, civil engineering or a related field.
• Continuous learning demonstrated through training, certifications or seminars in planning & scheduling, project management, asset management, RCM, etc.
• Ability to adhere to health, safety, environment, quality, finance and HR policies and regulations.

Required skills

• Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOM) management.
• Proficiency in maintenance budgeting and cost tracking.
