Project Manager – Solar PV & BESS (Zambia)

About the role

CSI Global is seeking a Project Manager to serve as the lead operational representative on‑site in Zambia. The role oversees day‑to‑day management of a solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) program, ensuring delivery against contract scope, schedule, quality and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all on‑site activities for the solar PV and BESS program, coordinating a multi‑discipline team.
• Develop and maintain the project execution plan, site mobilization plan, and reporting system.
• Monitor EPC contractor progress, compare against the baseline schedule and escalate deviations.
• Chair daily, weekly and monthly site meetings with EPC contractors and stakeholders.
• Review and track engineering submittals, inspection reports, NCRs and construction punch lists.
• Oversee document control in collaboration with the Document Controller.
• Supervise construction inspections, commissioning activities and technical acceptance processes.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for the client and senior management.
• Manage interface risks among SPVs, EPC contractors, grid operators and government bodies.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental standards and the project HSE plan.
• Coordinate with the off‑site Engineering Manager to resolve technical queries and RFIs.
• Deploy on‑site resources and verify personnel competencies and certifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years of engineering and project management experience.
• At least 5 years managing on‑site delivery of Solar PV and/or energy storage projects.
• Experience in PMC or Owner’s Engineer roles is highly preferred.
• PMP or PRINCE2 certification is desirable.
• Strong leadership, coordination and communication abilities.
