Gender Equality Technical Specialist (GE)

About the role

The Gender Equality Technical Specialist will support the Gender Office of the Field Support Services Project in advancing gender equality and mainstreaming within the Zambia Police Service. Based in Lusaka, the consultant will work closely with the High Commission of Canada Senior Liaison Officer and ZPS directorates to embed gender‑responsive policies and practices across the force.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review, implement and audit gender equality documents and action plans for the Zambia Police Service.
• Provide technical advice and capacity‑building workshops to ZPS leadership and staff on gender issues.
• Facilitate gender‑sensitisation activities and awareness campaigns across all police directorates.
• Coordinate with project managers, Canadian partners and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Monitor and report on gender mainstreaming progress, including data collection and analysis.

Required profile

• Zambian citizen residing in Lusaka.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Proven experience in gender equality mainstreaming, preferably within public security or government institutions.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently on a consultancy basis for up to 40 hours per month.
