Operations Coordinator – Power System Operations

About the role

The Operations Coordinators will support reliable electricity supply across Kitwe, Ndola and Luanshya by performing switching operations, analysing system abnormalities and responding to call‑outs quickly. Reporting to the Engineer – Field Operations, they will ensure safety and compliance in all sub‑station activities.

Key responsibilities

• Execute programmed and forced outage switching operations safely and according to procedures.
• Mitigate inadvertent trips, test equipment during switching and analyse relay indications.
• Conduct fault finding on sub‑station DC and 380 V circuits and arrange repairs.
• Maintain accurate sub‑station drawings, wiring diagrams and safety signage.
• Read and verify energy meters for billing and perform monthly/ad‑hoc meter readings.
• Run circuit reliability tests and standby equipment checks for emergency readiness.
• Ensure compliance with CEC system regulations and report unsafe conditions.
• Provide training on high‑voltage switching to employees and consumers.

Required profile

• Advanced Certificate in Power Electrical.
• Minimum 2 years experience in power system operation and safety.
• Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
• Strong understanding of load flow and system risk analysis.
• At least 5 years experience in switching operations and safety procedures.
