Technical Coach – Heavy Mobile Equipment

About the role

The Technical Coach for Heavy Mobile Equipment will lead on‑the‑job coaching and training for H.E.R technicians and rigging artisans at Kansanshi Smelter. You will create a continuous learning environment, ensure compliance with engineering and safety standards, and support fault diagnosis to minimise downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Adhere to all health, safety, environment, quality, finance and HR regulations relevant to the role.
• Provide on‑the‑job coaching and formal training modules in partnership with the KMP Training Department.
• Prepare and deliver training materials addressing identified skill gaps.
• Champion quality and visible leadership on the shop floor.
• Support fault diagnosis and corrective actions to reduce equipment downtime.
• Conduct assessments, identify skill gaps and design targeted interventions.
• Act as an independent assessor for the Proficiency Framework across FQM operations.
• Identify high‑potential artisans and support their career progression.
• Record interventions and monitor progress using the company’s learning management tools.
• Report on the impact of initiatives and collaborate with the training department to define future training needs.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to role‑model best practices and foster a learning culture.
• Strong communication skills for effective listening, questioning and feedback.
• Experience in assessing technical competencies and delivering coaching interventions.
• Capability to work independently and lead on‑floor activities in a mining environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of mechanical codes and engineering codes.
• Understanding of safety standards applicable to heavy mobile equipment.
• Fault diagnosis techniques for mining equipment.
• Proficiency with learning management tools and assessment frameworks.
