Technical Coach – Mechanical Fitting

About the role

The Technical Coach – Mechanical Fitting will lead on‑floor training and coaching for fitting artisans and technicians at the Kansanshi Smelter. This role blends compliance oversight, hands‑on technical support, and structured learning to ensure high‑quality mechanical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with mechanical codes, safety standards, and company procedures.
• Provide on‑the‑job coaching and formal training in collaboration with the KMP Training Department.
• Prepare and deliver training materials and structured sessions based on identified skill gaps.
• Role‑model best practices, champion quality, and support fault diagnosis to minimise downtime.
• Assess learners, design proficiency assessments, and act as an independent assessor for FQM operations.
• Identify high‑potential artisans, track interventions, and report on training impact.
• Maintain records using the company’s learning management tools and work closely with the training department to define future needs.
• Provide feedback on coaching outcomes to supervisors and senior leaders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical fitting or a related mechanical engineering environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, safety standards, and fault‑diagnosis techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, train, and assess technical staff on‑site.
• Excellent communication and observation skills to engage learners and deliver feedback.
• Commitment to compliance, quality, and continuous improvement in a smelter setting.
