Boiler Maker

About the role

The Boiler Maker is responsible for welding, fabricating and rebuilding pipe strings and related equipment in a mining environment. The role combines hands‑on production work with quality control to ensure reliable operation of drilling tools.

Key responsibilities

• Weld metal components together following blueprints and welding diagrams.
• Cut, grind, clean and prepare materials for fabrication.
• Rebuild drill pipes and shock subs by welding tools and components.
• Perform bit grinding and repair of rocktools such as hammers and bits.
• Provide feedback on assembly order, design, materials and fixtures during the fabrication process.
• Operate in pit and workshop settings, adhering to safety and noise‑protection requirements.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in welding and metal fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols and diagrams.
• Physical ability to stand, lift 35‑75 lb, and work in noisy, mechanical environments.
• Class C truck licence and HiAB operation are advantageous.
