Aircon Technician

About the role

The Aircon Technician will join the versatile maintenance team at Lumwana Mining Company, reporting to the Shift Supervisor. The role focuses on repairing, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance on air‑conditioning units used in heavy and light mobile equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct inspections, servicing and repairs on air‑conditioning systems for heavy and light mobile equipment.
• Diagnose faults and carry out corrective maintenance to restore equipment performance.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life.
• Ensure compliance with refrigeration handling, environmental and mine safety standards.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders and refrigerant gas usage logs in the CMMS.
• Support maintenance teams during breakdowns and respond to urgent air‑conditioning issues.
• Install, replace and commission air‑conditioning units and components as required.
• Identify recurring faults and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability.

Required profile

• Full Grade Twelve School Certificate.
• Craft Certificate in Refrigeration and Air‑Conditioning or equivalent.
• Valid permit to handle refrigerant gases (preferred).
• Minimum 2 years experience on heavy and light mobile equipment in mining or similar environments.
• Strong fault‑finding, diagnostic and technical repair skills.
• Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Pronto) – an advantage.
• Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
• Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
• Valid Zambian driver’s licence (preferred).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
