Equipment Inspector

About the role

The Equipment Inspector will join the versatile maintenance team at Lumwana Mining Company, reporting to the Shift Supervisor. The role ensures safety, reliability and optimal performance of both mobile and fixed mining equipment through thorough inspections and technical reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine, scheduled, statutory and ad‑hoc inspections on mobile and fixed plant equipment.
• Identify defects, wear, performance deviations and potential failures, and prepare detailed inspection reports.
• Enter inspection data accurately into SAP and immediately escalate critical defects.
• Verify repair quality, support asset integrity programmes, shutdowns and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Participate in failure investigations and provide technical feedback.
• Assist in updating inspection checklists, standards and procedures.

Required profile

• Full Grade Twelve School Certificate and a Craft Certificate in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Maintenance or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years experience in heavy earth‑moving equipment maintenance.
• Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (preferred).
• Valid Zambian driver’s licence (advantageous).

Required skills

• Proficiency with CMMS, specifically SAP.
• Strong command of the Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to produce accurate technical inspection reports.
