Technical Advisor

About the role

The Technical Advisor provides high‑level technical expertise, troubleshooting support and maintenance guidance for a mixed fleet of heavy mining and earth‑moving equipment. The role focuses on improving equipment availability, reliability and cost performance while working closely with maintenance teams, OEM representatives and operations personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver advanced technical support for Komatsu, Volvo and Caterpillar heavy equipment.
• Lead troubleshooting and diagnosis of complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, engine, transmission, drivetrain, cooling, steering, braking and control‑system failures.
• Support maintenance crews during major and high‑impact equipment breakdowns.
• Interpret OEM fault codes, technical manuals, hydraulic and electrical schematics, and diagnostic data.
• Verify faults before replacement of high‑value components and provide direction during major component change‑outs.
• Conduct post‑repair inspections and functional testing before returning equipment to service.
• Liaise with OEM and dealer technical support when specialist intervention is required.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification and/or recognized trade certificate.
• 5‑10 years of hands‑on experience with heavy mechanical equipment, especially Komatsu, Volvo and CAT fleets.
• Proven experience maintaining Dozers D475A & D375A, CAT785C & CAT777D, Volvo A40F, WA600, WD900 and Graders GD825A.
• Strong focus on continuous improvement and ability to lead and delegate tasks.
• Good understanding of production and maintenance strategies for large‑scale continuous mining operations.
• Experience with work‑permit systems and safety procedures.
