Business Development Manager – Steel Trading (Zambia)

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Business Development Manager to drive growth across Zambia’s steel market. You will identify lucrative opportunities in hot‑rolled coil (HRC), cold‑rolled coil (CRC), galvanized (GI) and pre‑painted GI (PPGI) products, shaping our market presence.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full sales cycle from prospecting and technical consultation to contract negotiation, closing, and long‑term account management.
• Analyse Zambian market dynamics, import regulations, competitor positioning and demand patterns to create localized sales strategies.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Logistics and Finance teams to navigate customs processes and ensure seamless order fulfillment.
• Develop strategic partnerships with existing clients while aggressively expanding market share to exceed sales targets.
• Represent the company at major Zambian trade events and industry associations to boost brand visibility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related field.
• English usable as a working language.
• Minimum 3 years of international steel trading experience with a proven import/export track record.
• Exceptional negotiation abilities, strong commercial acumen and an established network within the Zambian steel industry.
• Self‑starter with resilience to work independently, comfortable with frequent travel and occasional regional trips.
