Chief Executive Officer – Nonprofit Education Leader

About the role

The Chief Executive Officer will provide overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational effectiveness for Tongabezi Trust School, a community‑focused nonprofit delivering free primary education, scholarships and adult training in Simonga, Zambia.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the refinement, updating and implementation of the organisation’s strategic development plan, vision and mission.
• Develop and execute a five‑year strategic business plan aligned with community needs.
• Provide guidance, mentorship and line‑management to the senior leadership team.
• Foster a professional, positive staff culture and oversee talent acquisition, including job description development.
• Drive fundraising, donor relations and the creation of sustainable revenue streams.
• Oversee nonprofit financial processes such as budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Engage with government agencies, educational institutions, donors and rural communities to advance the mission.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education Leadership and Management.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior leadership role.
• Proven ability to lead diverse teams, manage senior staff and implement organisational change.
• Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor engagement and financial stewardship.
• Strong strategic thinking and deep commitment to improving education for underserved communities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Knowledge of local languages (Tonga, Lozi or Nyanja) is an asset; Zambian citizenship preferred.
