Head of Systems and Operations – Zambia

About the role

The Head of Systems and Operations (HoSO) will report directly to the Country Director and lead the finance, logistics and HR functions of the Zambia Country Programme. The role ensures that all operational processes are standardized, transparent and aligned with People in Need and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Guarantee that systems and operations support the Country Strategy and comply with donor and organisational rules.
• Standardise procedures across finance, HR and logistics, fostering effective communication between support and programme teams.
• Supervise the overall country programme economy, identify gaps and risks, and propose corrective actions.
• Oversee support‑department budgets, improve needs planning and contribute to budgeting for new projects.
• Provide technical guidance to finance teams on budgeting, drawing and accounting processes.
• Guide logisticians on office, fleet, procurement, stock and asset management, including logistic budgeting.
• Lead capacity‑building initiatives for staff across finance, HR and logistics.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing finance, logistics and HR operations within an international NGO or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance, budgeting and financial risk management.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with programme and support teams.
