About the role
BIA Group, a multinational provider of equipment for public works, mines, quarries and transport, is looking for a Material Handler to manage tools and consumables in its Zambian workshop. You will ensure that all tools are properly issued, tracked, maintained and calibrated, supporting safe and efficient workshop operations.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain tools inventory, issue and receive tools physically and in the system.
- Inspect tools for re‑usability, record, tag and report damaged or lost items.
- Monitor calibration schedules and keep a catalog of calibration certificates.
- Update the workshop tools catalog monthly and ensure all check‑sheets are completed before issue.
- Test and verify tools returning from repairs.
- Manage workshop consumables and PPE stock, ensuring adequate quantities at all times.
- Run errands for the workshop using a varied licence.
Required profile
- Diploma or certificate in Stores Management, Inventory Management, Logistics Management or Business Administration with stores experience.
- 2‑5 years of experience in tool store management, warehouse operations or inventory control within a workshop or maintenance environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and accountability.
Required skills
- Knowledge of hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
- Inventory management and stock control, including cycle counts and stock audits.
- Tool issuing and return processes, spare‑parts identification.
- Familiarity with any tool management system.
- Valid forklift licence and driver’s licence.
- Understanding of occupational health and safety requirements.
- Experience in mining or heavy‑equipment workshops.
- Computer literacy: Excel, Outlook and ERP systems.
