Mechanical Fitter – Full-time (Kitwe)

About the role

The Mechanical Fitter will work on‑site at C & B Engineering Ltd. in Kitwe, assembling, installing, aligning and maintaining mechanical components used in sealing and insulation technologies. This full‑time position involves routine inspections, fault diagnosis and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, install and align mechanical components and machinery.
• Perform routine inspections and diagnose mechanical faults.
• Carry out repairs and implement preventive maintenance programmes.
• Operate machining tools and equipment for fabrication and repair work.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals and specifications.
• Ensure all work complies with company quality and safety standards.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives for equipment performance.

Required profile

• Strong fitting and machinery skills.
• Machining skills for operating and maintaining tools.
• Experience with preventive and general maintenance of mechanical systems.
• Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, fitting or related field.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
• Sound understanding of workplace safety practices and engineering standards.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Previous experience in industrial or engineering settings is an advantage.
• Active membership of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) required.
