Laboratory Chemist

About the role

Alfred H Knight is seeking a Laboratory Chemist to join its General Analysis laboratory in Zambia. You will lead daily production, supervise analysts, and ensure high‑quality analytical results for internal and external clients.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct analytical tests and oversee the workflow to meet turnaround times.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to laboratory staff, ensuring compliance with HSEQ regulations.
• Maintain sample integrity, manage full sample tracking, and verify test results.
• Perform QA/QC trend analysis and investigate any reporting anomalies.
• Oversee instrument calibration, daily maintenance, and reagent inventory.
• Build relationships with clients and research innovative analytical methods.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in a testing laboratory.
• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related chemical science.
• Member of the Chemical Society of Zambia.
• First Aid Certificate and/or ISO 17025 training (advantageous).
• Strong communication, safety awareness, leadership, and time‑management skills.
