Poultry Farm Manager – Commercial Farm

About the role

The client operates a commercial poultry farm in State Lodge, Lusaka and seeks a dedicated manager to lead daily operations. The role ensures efficient production, high animal welfare standards, and profitability while maintaining strict bio‑security and quality controls.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise daily broiler, layer or breeder production activities.
• Monitor flock performance indicators such as growth, egg output, mortality and feed conversion.
• Implement and enforce farm bio‑security procedures and work with veterinarians on disease‑control programmes.
• Manage feed consumption, maintain inventory of feed, vaccines, medicines and other supplies.
• Supervise, train and allocate duties to farm staff, ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
• Maintain accurate production records, prepare regular reports and analyse data to recommend corrective actions.
• Oversee maintenance of poultry houses, equipment, water and power systems and coordinate repairs.
• Prepare and monitor production budgets, control costs and identify opportunities to improve profitability.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Poultry Science or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in commercial poultry production, supervising staff and managing both broiler and layer operations.
• Good understanding of Zambian agricultural and animal‑health regulations.
