Production Supervisor – Bakery Operations

About the role

The Production Supervisor will lead daily bakery operations, ensuring that bread is produced safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will coordinate shift activities, manage resources, and drive continuous improvement in a fast‑moving FMCG environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate shift production, allocating labour, machinery and materials to meet output and dispatch targets.
• Supervise the entire bread‑making process from ingredient preparation through mixing, proofing, baking, cooling, slicing and packaging.
• Conduct shift briefings, assign tasks, monitor attendance and performance of production staff.
• Monitor process parameters and product specifications, correcting deviations in weight, bake quality, appearance or packaging.
• Enforce food safety, hygiene, GMP and PPE requirements and support Quality Assurance in resolving non‑conformances.
• Oversee equipment operation, perform basic troubleshooting and promptly report breakdowns.
• Control material usage, yields, rejects, rework, waste and overtime while seeking productivity improvements.
• Maintain a safe work environment, report hazards, incidents and near‑misses.
• Complete accurate shift records and coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse and Dispatch.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or higher; Diploma/Certificate in Production, Food Processing, Manufacturing, Engineering or related field.
• 3‑5 years of experience in a supervisory role within food manufacturing; bakery experience preferred.
• Strong team leadership, communication, problem‑solving and production‑planning abilities.
