Specialist, Wear Management

About the role

The Wear Management Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing wear performance of fixed‑plant equipment. Using wear engineering, 3D scanning and condition‑monitoring techniques, the role aims to extend asset life, reduce wear cost per tonne and improve plant availability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement wear management strategies for equipment such as chutes, bins, liners, pumps, cyclones, pipes and screens.
• Evaluate, select and recommend wear‑resistant materials (ceramics, rubber, chrome carbide, polyurethane) and optimise cost‑performance.
• Establish inspection standards, monitoring intervals and replacement criteria; create wear‑life forecasting models.
• Integrate wear data with condition‑monitoring programs and maintain digital wear maps, dashboards and 3D‑scanning programmes.
• Lead root‑cause analysis of wear failures, define corrective actions and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Standardise wear‑management best practices across the plant and support LCAM compliance for new and existing assets.
• Ensure all activities comply with health, safety, environmental and quality policies.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to work safely and adhere to company policies, HSE and quality standards.
• Proactive attitude toward safety, inspection and failure investigation.
• Experience in managing wear‑critical assets in an industrial or production environment.

Required skills

• Wear engineering and material selection (ceramics, rubber, chrome carbide, polyurethane).
• 3D scanning for wear monitoring and volume‑loss analysis.
• Condition‑monitoring techniques including visual inspection, thickness testing, ultrasonic testing and thermography.
• Wear‑life forecasting and replacement planning.
• Root‑cause analysis (RCA) and corrective‑action development.
• Data integration, dashboard creation and digital wear‑map maintenance.
