About the role
The Staff Assistant (G6) provides high‑level administrative support to the Director of the Sub‑Regional Office – Southern Africa (SRO‑SA) in Lusaka, Zambia. The role ensures smooth daily operations, manages the flow of information, and assists with document processing in line with the Economic Commission for Africa’s mission to promote development across the continent.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the Director’s daily schedule, appointments, and correspondence.
- Process, file, and archive official documents, reports, and communications.
- Coordinate internal and external information flow, ensuring timely distribution of relevant materials.
- Provide secretarial services for meetings, including agenda preparation, minute taking, and follow‑up actions.
- Assist with general administrative duties as assigned, supporting the efficient functioning of the office.
Required profile
- University degree or equivalent professional qualification.
- Proven experience in a secretarial or administrative role, preferably within an international or multilateral organization.
- Strong knowledge of UN or similar institutional procedures and documentation standards.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
