Business Development Manager - Mining

About the role

AGL Zambia Limited, a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, sea and rail) in Africa and part of the MSC Group, is looking for a Business Development Manager for its Mining business in Zambia. The role drives growth by identifying new opportunities, building strategic customer relationships and turning them into profitable contracts. It is a permanent, full-time position based in Lusaka.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategies to grow the Mining business and secure profitable new opportunities.
• Identify, qualify and convert new mining projects, contracts and opportunities across the mining value chain.
• Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline with mining companies, contractors, EPCs, suppliers and other stakeholders.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, mining developments and investment opportunities.
• Manage relationships with key mining customers, create account plans to grow revenue and share of wallet, and run regular business reviews.
• Manage the mining sales pipeline from opportunity identification to contract award, and monitor revenue, profitability and sales forecasts.
• Lead commercial development of tenders, RFQs and RFPs, develop value propositions and support contract negotiations and handover to operations.
• Work with Operations, Projects, Finance and Regional teams to design integrated logistics solutions covering transportation, warehousing, project logistics, customs clearance, freight forwarding, supply chain and export logistics.
• Represent AGL at mining industry events, conferences and customer forums, and build a network of industry contacts.
