Sales & Service Engineer – Mine Water & Mining

About the role

Sulzer is looking for a Sales & Service Engineer for its Mine Water and Mining business in Zambia, based at the Chingola office. The engineer provides technical advice to customers, including commissioning, installation and testing of products and equipment, and helps Sulzer increase its presence at customer sites by selling new equipment and spare parts and offering related service.

Key responsibilities

• Capture customer needs and generate requests for quotation across assigned territories during technical, commercial and service visits.
• Ensure repairs orders are executed properly at the local Service Center and coordinate site repairs and service business with customers.
• Support the Sales Office with pump service issues such as installation supervision, start-up and commissioning, troubleshooting and customer training, and support Mine Water customers with XJ900 pump start-ups.
• Learn the basic Sulzer sales processes and rules (customer specifications, product portfolio, TOA, 10 GR, COSP, PA, STARS, Salesforce, pricing).
• Maintain customer records in Salesforce, report customer information, and assist management with budget, rolling forecast and MBR reporting.
• Work closely with local and regional colleagues on tendering, quotations, orders, shipping, invoicing and cash collection.
• Stay up to date on new products and features, share ideas to improve sales effectiveness, and support company initiatives.

Required profile

• Diploma in engineering, or Mechanical or Electrical Engineer or Technician.
• More than 5 years of professional experience, including international experience.
• Desirable: experience in sales support, spare parts change/replacement, pump service, and an ERP system.
• English language.

Required skills

• Intermediate use of Microsoft products (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Strong negotiation skills and experience in sales support functions.
• Organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, independent work and team focus.
