Contracts Officer (Grade ZRA05)

About the role

The Contracts Officer will support the Procurement Controller in planning, coordinating and administering contracts for goods, works and consultancy services. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with the Public Procurement Act and related regulations while fostering effective supplier relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare contract documents and solicitation papers in line with procurement policies.
• Participate in tender evaluations and submit recommendations to the Procurement Committee.
• Conduct market research to validate contract variations and trends.
• Draft evaluation reports, procurement committee papers, and technical specifications.
• Negotiate with suppliers within authorized limits and provide secretarial support to negotiation committees.
• Monitor contract performance, update management on status, and verify invoices for timely payment.
• Conduct site visits to supervise project execution and ensure compliance.

Required profile

• Grade Twelve (GCE) or equivalent.
• Degree in Purchasing & Supplies, Business Administration, Engineering, Social Sciences or related field.
• Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
• Minimum three (3) years of post‑qualifying experience in contracts management and expediting.
• Valid membership of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing.
