Driver Trainer

About the role

Alistair Group is seeking a professional Driver Trainer to build a high‑performance driving culture across its expanding fleet. You will use field coaching, telematics insights and hands‑on assessments to improve driver behaviour, safety and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Provide continuous, field‑based coaching and performance assessments for drivers.
• Analyse telematics data and onboard monitoring devices to identify corrective actions.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of accidents, fuel waste, speeding and vehicle misuse.
• Develop and monitor improvement plans for under‑performing drivers.
• Carry out practical driver evaluations, route observations and competency assessments.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, legal requirements and safety procedures.
• Support accident investigations and translate findings into targeted training.
• Promote fuel‑efficient driving and improve vehicle care and defect reporting.
• Deliver induction, refresher and remedial training programs based on identified risks.
• Establish measurable performance standards to drive fleet improvement.

Required profile

• Grade 12 Certificate; Diploma in Transport & Logistics, Road Transport Management, OHS, Fleet Management or related field.
• Minimum 5 years operating heavy commercial vehicles.
• At least 2 years experience in driver training, fleet supervision or performance management.
• Valid professional driver’s licence and Defensive Driving Certificate.
• Additional certifications such as Training of Trainers, Dangerous Goods or Incident Investigation are advantageous.
