Engine Workshop & Field Service Technician Apprentice

About the role

We are seeking an Engine Workshop/Field Service Technician Apprentice to join Cummins in Zambia. The role provides hands‑on training in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining diesel engines and related equipment, both in the workshop and on‑site. You will develop practical skills while supporting our service operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with general workshop activities, including cleaning, inspecting and disassembling equipment.
• Support the timely completion of service and maintenance tasks under supervision.
• Apply Standard Repair Times and established procedures to achieve high‑quality maintenance outcomes.
• Record work documentation, timesheets and system entries accurately and on time.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment, caring for tools and equipment.
• Follow Health, Safety and Environmental policies and report any issues or risks.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives by identifying and reporting problems.

Required profile

• Full Grade 12 certificate and a valid driver’s licence.
• Craft certificate or higher in Diesel Mechanics, Automotive Engineering, Heavy Equipment Repair, Mechanical Engineering, Auto Electrical, Power Electrical, Industrial Mechanics or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail, safety and quality standards.
• Willingness to learn and follow structured on‑the‑job training and Cummins technician curriculum.
