Head of Systems and Operations for Zambia

About the role

The Head of Systems and Operations (HoSO) reports directly to the Country Director and leads the finance, logistics and human‑resources functions of the Zambia programme. The role ensures that all operational processes are aligned with People in Need’s standards and donor requirements while building capacity across support departments.

Key responsibilities

• Guarantee that systems and operations fully support the Country Strategy and comply with donor and organisational rules.
• Standardise and harmonise procedures for finance, HR and logistics, fostering transparent communication with programme teams.
• Supervise the overall country programme economy, identify financial and procedural risks, and propose corrective actions.
• Oversee support‑department budgets, improve needs‑planning, and contribute to budgeting for new projects.
• Provide technical guidance to finance teams on budgeting, drawing and accounting processes.
• Support logisticians in office, fleet, procurement, stock and asset management, including logistic budgeting.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing finance, HR and logistics functions in an NGO or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance, financial risk management and operational best practices.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional teams, drive process improvement and build staff capacity.
