Head of Systems & Operations – Zambia

About the role

Under the direct supervision of the Country Director, the Head of Systems & Operations will lead the finance, logistics and HR functions for the Zambia country programme. The role ensures that all operational processes are aligned with People in Need’s standards and donor requirements, supporting the implementation of the country strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Standardise and oversee procedures for finance, HR and logistics, ensuring transparency and compliance with donor and organisational rules.
• Supervise the overall country programme economy, identify gaps and risks, and propose corrective actions.
• Manage budgets of support departments, coordinate needs planning and contribute to budgeting for new projects.
• Provide technical guidance to finance teams on budgeting, drawing and accounting processes.
• Support logisticians in office, fleet, procurement, stock and asset management, including logistic budgeting.
• Facilitate effective communication between support functions and programme departments.
• Lead capacity‑building initiatives for staff across finance, HR and logistics.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing finance, logistics and HR operations in an international NGO or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance and financial risk management.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with programme teams and senior management.

Required skills

• Knowledge of financial management, procurement and human‑resource procedures.
• Familiarity with donor reporting standards.
