Health and Nutrition Officer

About the role

The Health and Nutrition Officer will support the implementation of nutrition and health interventions at the field level for Action Against Hunger. This role focuses on managing acute malnutrition, infant nutrition, integrated case management of childhood illnesses, and behavior‑change communication while building capacity of community health volunteers.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and supervise acute malnutrition management, MIYCAN, MAMi, and ICCM activities at health facilities and outreach sites.
• Lead social and behavior change communication (SBCC) initiatives targeting vulnerable populations.
• Provide technical support and capacity‑building to VHTs, care‑group volunteers, health workers, and district teams.
• Coordinate with WASH and Food Security officers to ensure multi‑sectoral integration.
• Identify, verify, and monitor programme participants, ensuring accurate reporting and timely troubleshooting of field issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience in community‑based nutrition or public health programmes.
• Familiarity with malnutrition management protocols and child health interventions.
• Ability to work closely with local health structures, NGOs, and government partners.
• Strong organizational and supervisory skills for field‑level implementation.
