Human Resources Director – Fixed Term

About the role

The African Christian University seeks a Human Resources Director on a full‑time fixed‑term basis. Reporting to the Vice‑Chancellor, you will provide strategic HR leadership that aligns people‑management practices with the university’s Christian mission and academic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for the HR function and advise senior leaders on people‑related matters.
• Develop, implement and review HR policies, procedures and programmes in line with labour legislation and best practice.
• Lead workforce planning, talent acquisition, succession planning and employee retention initiatives.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, promotion and separation processes.
• Design and deliver staff performance management, professional development and leadership programmes.
• Manage employee relations, disciplinary matters, grievances and maintain a values‑driven work environment.
• Develop competitive compensation, benefits and welfare programmes.
• Support organisational change, culture‑building and institutional development.
• Lead the HR team and build a high‑performing function.
• Prepare HR analytics, reporting and budgeting as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience providing strategic HR leadership in a complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of applicable labour laws and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to advise senior management on people‑related strategy and policy.
• Demonstrated skill in workforce planning, talent acquisition and employee development.
• Experience managing employee relations, compensation and benefits programmes.
