Information Technology Manager (IT)

About the role

Zalawi Haulage Limited, a Zambian road haulage company founded in 1974 and part of the MSC Group, is recruiting an Information Technology Manager in Chingola. The role leads and develops the company's ICT function so that all depots benefit from reliable, secure and cost-effective infrastructure, business systems, cybersecurity, data management and user support.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the IT strategy, recommend new technologies, set policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with legal and cybersecurity requirements.
• Oversee servers, computers, networking equipment and communication systems, keep systems running, manage internet connectivity across depots and plan upgrades.
• Administer business applications including ERP, fleet management, GPS tracking, payroll, HR, email, Microsoft 365, shared drives and backups.
• Build cybersecurity controls, monitor network security, manage antivirus and endpoint protection, coordinate disaster recovery and run vulnerability assessments.
• Ensure timely resolution of user issues, set service standards, monitor the helpdesk and improve user satisfaction.
• Manage IT vendors, evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts and manage IT licensing.
• Prepare the annual IT budget, control spending and recommend cost-saving measures.
• Develop backup procedures, maintain disaster recovery plans and ensure business continuity.
• Supervise IT staff, conduct performance reviews, coach team members and coordinate IT projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA or ITIL; cybersecurity certifications are an added advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of IT experience and at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in a logistics, transport or fleet management environment is an advantage.
