About the role

Zalawi Haulage Limited, a Zambian road haulage company based in Chingola with a fleet of more than 500 trucks, is recruiting an Information Technology Officer to provide day-to-day technical support. The role maintains computer systems, networks, business applications and IT equipment so that business operations run without interruption.

Key responsibilities

• First-line IT support: install and configure computers, troubleshoot hardware and software, support printers and scanners, and help users with Microsoft 365.
• Network support: monitor LAN and WAN connectivity, configure switches and routers, troubleshoot internet issues and support wireless networks.
• Systems administration: maintain email, user and password accounts, shared folders, Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
• Hardware management: install computers, replace faulty hardware, maintain the IT asset register and coordinate repairs.
• Software support: install approved software, maintain licences, update operating systems and apply security patches.
• Cybersecurity: monitor antivirus updates, report security incidents, educate users and assist with backup monitoring.
• Fleet and business systems support for fleet management, GPS tracking, HR, payroll, ERP applications and mobile devices.
• Maintain IT inventory, record support tickets, prepare monthly IT reports and update technical documentation.
• Carry out routine equipment inspections, scheduled maintenance and replacement of ageing equipment where approved.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of IT support experience.
• Experience supporting Windows environments, Microsoft 365 and networking.
• Transport or logistics experience is an added advantage.
• Microsoft, CompTIA A+, Network+ or Cisco certifications are an advantage.
