Information Technology Officer

About the role

Zambia Sugar Plc is looking for a proactive and detail‑driven Information Technology Officer to join the Twazabuka Project on a fixed‑term basis. Reporting to the Project Leader, you will provide on‑site technical support and ensure the reliability of the project’s IT infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely on‑site IT support for hardware, software, and network issues to minimise downtime.
• Maintain servers, workstations and network connectivity, ensuring data security and policy compliance.
• Deliver basic user training, create user guides and FAQs, and assist team members with technical queries.
• Coordinate with Zambia Sugar’s central IT department to implement system upgrades and updates.
• Monitor IT incidents, usage patterns and report on potential improvements.
• Manage IT equipment inventory, procure spare parts and backups, and configure new devices for staff and subcontractors.

Required profile

• Full Grade Twelve certificate and a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
• At least 4 years of IT support experience, preferably in remote or field environments.
• Valid driver’s licence, willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including emergency response.
• Ability to work independently in a rural, project‑based setting.
