Mechanical Fitter

About the role

The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for maintaining and repairing industrial equipment to ensure high availability and reliability. You will work closely with operations and engineering teams to diagnose faults, perform precision installations, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Execute preventive and breakdown maintenance on pumps, ring blowers, cooling towers, aerators and related equipment.
• Identify potential failures through proactive inspection, condition monitoring and root‑cause analysis.
• Replace bearings, seals, shafts, gears and other components with zero re‑work, maintaining OEM tolerances.
• Maintain equipment alignment, conduct fault diagnosis and produce accurate maintenance reports.
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environment policies and permit‑to‑work procedures.
• Communicate defects, risks and maintenance needs promptly to the team and other departments.

Required profile

• Trade certificate or diploma in Mechanical Fitting (Grade 12 or equivalent).
• ZAQA‑certified academic qualifications and registration with the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).
• Experience maintaining pumps, blowers, cooling towers, aerators or similar industrial plant.
• Background in preventive and breakdown maintenance; FMCG experience is a plus.
• Experience working with hydraulic systems.
