Truck Stop Operator / Cleaner

About the role

Korridor is hiring a Truck Stop Operator and Cleaner for its Kapiri Truck Park in Zambia. The role reports directly to the Truck Stop Leader and is temporary; the job grade is TBC and unskilled. Its main purpose is to keep the office and truck park clean and safe for staff, customers, contractors and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Cleaning: keep toilets, kitchens, truck park and truck yard tidy; vacuum, mop, sweep and spot-clean carpets; dust, disinfect and polish furniture and surfaces.
• Remove trash from all areas and clean and sanitise restrooms daily.
• Clean all windows and keep the area free of dried grass, leaves, litter and withered plants.
• Ensure equipment is stored correctly and report repairs and replacements encountered during daily tasks.
• May be asked to buy cleaning supplies and stock kitchen supplies.
• Help customers and contractors follow safety rules (speed limits, designated parking, no smoking in dangerous zones, no horseplay).
• Aim for zero injuries, spills and equipment damage, and assist other departments when needed.
• Take part in SHEQ meetings and fire drills, know the emergency response plan, and direct traffic and parking in the yard.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a similar role.
• High school diploma or equivalent is advantageous; additional cleaning courses are also helpful.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards.
• Integrity, honesty, reliability, customer service focus, good interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to stand for long periods, work mornings, evenings and weekends, and finish tasks on time with little supervision.
