Field Operations Manager

About the role

We are looking for a Field Operations Manager to lead and coordinate all field activities for Vylor’s seed production business in Lusaka, Zambia. The role ensures continuity, sustainability and operational success by working closely with growers, contractors and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead improvement programs and initiatives across production, maintenance and related manufacturing services.
• Provide leadership and direction to field and production teams, ensuring continuous and efficient output of desired quantity and quality.
• Coordinate schedules with business leadership and supply‑chain functions to align with customer needs.
• Manage operational budgets, cost objectives and resource allocation.
• Set and enforce adherence to safety, quality and compliance policies.
• Oversee day‑to‑day production, maintenance activities and shutdowns, including lower‑hazard processes.
• Maintain strong relationships with growers, suppliers, contractors and other external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Agribusiness, Operations Management or a related field.
• 5‑8+ years of experience in agricultural production, seed production, field operations, manufacturing or supply‑chain operations.
• Proven experience leading field teams, production crews, contractors or seasonal workforces.
• Experience managing operational budgets, production schedules and performance metrics.
• Knowledge of safety, quality and compliance standards in an agricultural or manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work with growers, farmers, suppliers and external partners.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel extensively to field locations.
