Finance and Grants Officer

About the role

The Finance and Grants Officer will manage daily financial transactions and budget execution for Action Against Hunger Zambia. Reporting to the Support Services Manager, the role ensures accurate accounting, compliance with donor and governmental policies, and supports program and logistics teams.

Key responsibilities

• Execute day‑to‑day financial transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare and submit accountancy bundles, budget forecasts (BFUs) and monthly commitments on time.
• Perform bank reconciliations and verify bankbooks before the 5th of each month.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, IFRS, donor guidelines and Zambian government regulations.
• Collaborate with Program Managers, logistics and administration teams to align procurement and budgeting processes.
• Disseminate accounting procedures and provide training to staff across Zambia and country offices.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and high integrity in handling financial resources.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and senior management.
• Good understanding of nonprofit financial management and donor reporting requirements.

Required skills

• Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
