Music Teacher – Primary & Secondary

About the role

Lusaka International Community School is seeking a qualified Music Teacher to join its vibrant Primary and Secondary programmes from 1 August 2026. The successful candidate will deliver engaging music instruction, prepare students for Cambridge examinations, and contribute to the school’s artistic life.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver class‑based and individual music lessons for Primary and Secondary students using the Cambridge curriculum.
• Teach music theory, aural skills and practical techniques, and prepare pupils for music examinations.
• Select and acquire appropriate teaching resources and integrate technology into lessons.
• Assess student progress, provide feedback, and produce detailed academic reports.
• Collaborate with school leadership to develop and direct school productions, coordinate rehearsals and liaise with external musicians.
• Lead peripatetic music teachers, maintain student profiles and ensure high standards for individual lessons.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of teaching experience in a CAIE or other internationally recognised programme.
• Strong knowledge of music curriculum implementation and classroom management.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents and staff.
• Organised, proactive and able to thrive in a team‑oriented environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in one or more musical instruments.
• Ability to teach music theory and aural skills.
• Experience using educational technology to enhance learning.
• Familiarity with the Cambridge International curriculum for music.
