Supply Chain Manager – Mining Operations

About the role

The Manager, Supply Chain will lead the end‑to‑end supply chain function for uninterrupted mining operations, ensuring optimal cost, quality and service levels. This role combines strategic planning with hands‑on operational leadership across procurement, logistics, inventory and contract administration.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with occupational health, safety, environmental and statutory requirements across all supply chain activities.
• Develop and implement the site supply chain strategy aligned with operational and business objectives.
• Lead procurement, logistics, expediting, inventory management and contract administration functions.
• Oversee supplier sourcing, tender evaluations, negotiations and contract awards within delegated authority.
• Manage supplier performance, contract compliance and supply chain risk mitigation.
• Coordinate logistics and freight forwarding for local and international procurement.
• Drive inventory optimisation, critical spares planning and supply continuity.
• Lead, coach and develop supply chain personnel to achieve performance and succession objectives.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related discipline (certified by ZAQA).
• Postgraduate qualification (MBA or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Membership of ZIPS.
• Minimum 8 years experience in senior supply chain, procurement or contracts roles within mining, resources or heavy industry.
• At least 5 years in a leadership or managerial position.
• Proven experience in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations and contract management.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems – Pronto preferred.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications.
