Credit Risk Specialist

About the role

The Credit Risk Specialist will assess, monitor and mitigate credit risk across MANGA CIG’s agricultural financing portfolio. The role ensures lending decisions are sound, risks are identified early and credit policies comply with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate loan applications from individuals, farmer groups, cooperatives and agribusinesses, analysing financial statements, cash flow, repayment capacity and collateral.
• Conduct field assessments to verify client operations within agricultural value chains and assign risk ratings.
• Monitor portfolio performance, track repayment behaviour, identify early warning signs and recommend restructuring or recovery actions.
• Prepare periodic credit risk reports and develop dashboards on portfolio performance and non‑performing loans.
• Ensure compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory guidelines, supporting policy reviews and documentation.
• Identify sector‑specific risks such as climate or market volatility and propose mitigation strategies including guarantees or insurance.
• Collaborate with field officers, loan officers and branch teams, providing training on credit risk best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Agricultural Economics or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in credit risk, micro‑finance, banking or agricultural lending.
• Professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM, ACCA) is a plus.
• Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail and ethical judgment.
• Willingness to conduct fieldwork in rural settings.
